We are looking for an experienced PhD or Life Science Medical Writer with a passion for writing science publications such as abstracts, posters, manuscripts and a wide range of other medical communications. You will be the right-hand man/woman to the Principal Medical Writer. The role is based in Central/West London.
The Medical Writer will lead the development of high-quality, medically accurate documents, addressing different target audiences. Depending on the scope and nature of each project, this responsibility will include: content development (writing), editing, conducting background research, data checking, reference annotation, and meeting minutes. This role will include mentoring other members of the Medical Writing team. Other responsibilities will include assistance with strategic publication planning and meetings support.
Key Responsibilities- Lead editorial projects (e.g. abstracts, posters, manuscripts, and a wide range of other medical communication activities) including writing/content development, fact checking, and annotating
- Conduct searches of the published medical literature and other sources of medical, marketing, and drug development information as directed by our client
- Understand and build an increasing knowledge of the science/medicine of thrombosis to the degree required for effective communication with internal team members, clients, authors, and target audiences
- Facilitate progress of editorial projects through multidisciplinary project teams (e.g. graphic design and printers) to ensure within-budget, on-time, and on-strategy performance
- Maintain and organise electronic reference libraries and order and file new references accordingly
- Maintain current list of conflicts of interest for authors
- Upload files and complete submission for abstracts and manuscripts
- Coach, mentor and develop other members of the Medical Writing team
- Track congress submission deadlines and maintain timelines for the development of abstracts and Congress materials
- Maintain publication plans for various international studies.
Requirements- Scientific or clinical degree essential; advanced degree (PhD, MD, PharmD) strongly preferred
- Experience in a medical communications agency preferred
- Ability to digest complex scientific and clinical information and write compelling content for diverse healthcare professional audiences
- Publications planning and delivery experience
- Occasional travel, including international travel, required
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to find and correct errors in spelling, punctuation, grammar, consistency, clarity and accuracy
- Experience in working with collaborative, cross-functional teams, including project management experience
- Impeccable organisational skills and confident looking through clinical data.
