We're looking for a Senior User Researcher for pur client to help them deliver impactful research to drive user experiences that truly empower patients to manage their health conditions and improve their quality of life. Healthcare is changing and the products you develop will redefine how patients receive treatment.
You'll be working on some of the most challenging and high-impact UX problems, developing and executing research initiatives to support product delivery from vision and strategy through to implementation. Your key role is to represent the voice of our customers; through coordinating and running regular cycles of user testing, feeding back the results of these studies in a way that is timely and constructive, and working with our cross-disciplinary team of designers, product managers and software engineers to effectively action user insights. You will be working in a start-up environment to deliver combination drug and software-based medical devices, which means you will be working within set processes to ensure final outputs are safe and effective by design.
We want our products to generate better health outcomes for patients, so we're keen to develop a deep understanding of the domain and identify existing issues and how they could be addressed. We believe that good design is at the heart of this challenge. We're interested in finding a user research specialist that can help keep patient outcomes at the heart of everything we do.
What you'll be doing:
Develop a deep understanding of healthcare delivery, our business, the product, the company objectives, our customers and our competitors.
Help define research strategy and planning, conduct studies and provide insights to support user-centric decision making.
Work closely with internal stakeholders and customers throughout the research process.
Execute research studies with minimal supervision, apply appropriate research methodologies, synthesise data into meaningful actionable insights and influence the implementation of our products.
Gather information to articulate a holistic view of our users and their behaviour. Help translate this information into models to help teams understand our users and their needs.
Test proposed product value propositions and design features with target users to ensure our design solutions are the right fit for the market and meet identified needs.
Work within a medical regulated environment, understand how this impacts user research and apply the necessary processes to meet regulatory requirements.
Support the delivery of external usability studies, ensure outputs are documented and fed back into the iterative design process.
Actively participate in the research and design culture of the organisation by sharing thought leadership and building effective processes and organisational research capabilities.
What you'll bring:
Five years plus experience working in a user research capacity, influencing the development of software products in healthcare or a similarly complex industry.
A strong portfolio demonstrating research that has delivered insight and helped to shape the design and success of released products in the marketplace.
Experience delivering research studies involving complex problems and examples of different methodologies used (e.g. ethnography, user interviews, focus groups, co-design workshops, value proposition testing, usability testing, A/B testing, competitor analysis, literature review).
Experience working with cross-disciplinary teams including business leaders, product managers, designers and other researchers to plan and prioritise research studies.
Excellent analytical skills. The ability to gather and process large amounts of qualitative data, synthesise it into simple actionable insights and help the team execute on findings.
Knowledge of human factors and usability engineering methodologies and processes.
Experience advocating for the user through effectively presenting research findings, by writing-up reports and presenting key insights. Ultimately, helping to influence product strategy and design.
