We have a great role software tester role for someone who cares about life science data and patient safety. This is office based in Cambridge.

The Role

We are looking for a dynamic and driven individual, who wants to apply their knowledge and experience of software and integration testing within a growing team and is looking for opportunities for professional growth in areas such as automated testing in a continuous integration and continuous deployment process, testing of computer simulated data models. To begin with you will be working across 2 verticals, the first on the clients product, which is continually growing and evolving to address the needs and requirements of the Industry, with 4 major release cycles per year; the second on our study data integration and aggregation layer. Currently our testing cycle is a manual process following a risk-based approach, resulting in IQ, OQ, PQ, and UAT cycles. We are currently in the process of evaluating our validation tool chain to better support Agile development, CICD and automated testing. In the clinical trials industry, validation of products that are used to inform decisions on patient safety and well-being and data quality and integrity is of the utmost importance. This role is critical in ensuring the quality of the product and study builds.

The Candidate

Relevant test experience, ideally to include both application and data integration testing. Industry experience would be an advantage but not essential.

Technical Experience (not exclusive)

  • Good working knowledge of industry standards for software development and validation would be an advantage i.e. ISO/IEC 9003: 2004, Software Engineers - Guidelines for the application of ISO 9001:2000 to computer software; ICH E6, GaMP5, HIPAA 1996, HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules 2003, FDA Regulation 21 CFR Part 11, FDA Guidance for Industry on Computer Systems used in Clinical Investigations, FDA General Principles for Software Validation, EudraLex Volume 4 Annex 11: Computerized Systems.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Visual Studio (Azure DevOps) for test planning and test case writing
  • Experience of developing test/validation artifacts such as test plan, requirement trace matrix, change control
  • Experience of working with user stories, requirements and design specifications to develop OQ, PQ and user acceptance test cases
  • Experience of test execution cycles and metrics
  • Experience of working within agile/scrum software development life cycle
  • Experience of testing data integration, extraction and aggregation routines
  • Experience of working with SQL, ability to write SQL queries to include in test routines

You will be responsible for:

  • Working with the validation lead to determine test approach and scope based on risk assessment
  • Providing test effort estimates to the project manager
  • Working with the BA/Designers to understand the use cases, requirements and design specifications
  • Developing test plans based on risk assessment and use cases
  • Developing OQ, PQ and User Acceptance test cases to support application releases and clinical study data extraction and aggregation routines
  • Executing test cycles
  • Providing input into validation/testing reports
  • Ensuring quality of the test deliverables
