JavaScript Developer - Reading

Pop Science are working in Partnership exclusively looking for a JavaScript Developer working with clients who want to apply knowledge and experience to the creation of a leading edge technology for the finance sector. The Developer is central to the development and delivery of high quality systems that operate in both high volume transaction environments and through our web front-ends. The role is part of the development team that designs, creates, maintains and manages the code base delivering our SaaS and online services to our client. My client provides regulatory checking and consent / preference management services to financial institutions.  

We work with a DevOps approach using an agile scrum environment adopting rapid delivery techniques throughout the delivery lifecycle, including continuous integration and testing. We seek to utilise platform engineering best practices to develop secure, robust code that performs to demanding financial services industry requirements, while scaling reliably and predictably.

Our software development team is creating and managing the software and systems behind our state-of-the-art technology platform. As a software developer you will be playing a full part in this team, helping to build out the service platform by delivering high quality systems code. You will be:

  • Working on our high volume, scalable, transaction platform as well as building client facing management information systems, using languages and technologies such as JavaScript, Node, React, AWS, PostgreSQL, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes and more
  • Creating high quality, reliable software and contributing to the technical vision for the business
  • Used to working with a TDD/BDD software development environment
  • Using pair programming to create code, solve problems and to help your colleagues
  • Working in a collaborative environment where your ideas and opinions are valued and respected
  • Taking responsibility for the reliability, performance and supportability of your code in production environments
  • Working with and helping other team members to share experiences to develop your collective skills and capabilities

Well practiced in agile development, you could currently be a junior developer looking to develop skills and to take on a larger challenge, or an existing developer that relishes the challenge of delivering systems code in to a high-volume, high-availability SaaS environment.

- Cloud Platform such as AWS, Azure and GCP

- Development environments using JavaScript, Node, React, etc.

- Test automation frameworks such as Jest, Newman, Cypress, Cucumber

- Build application pipelines using Jenkins, CicleCI, etc.

- SaaS and RESTful API solutions

- Multi-zone, multi-region, internationalised, resilient and scalable applications

- Building application monitoring solutions

- Working with GitHub, Gitlab etc
