Chief Technolgy Officer
Our client is a pioneering developer of specialist technology solutions for the global Pharmaceutical Industry.
We are looking for a Chief Technolgy Officer (CTO) to lead their expanding technical team in the delivery of the product road map on a new cloud-based architecture.You would be joining a professional, collaborative and friendly environment working alongside a skilled and motivated team of men and women from a variety of cultures and backgrounds.
They pride themselves on their deep knowledge of real world research and how they have used this to design and build fit-for-purpose software that really works for their customers.
Are you their next CTO to lead their expanding technical team in the delivery of the product road map on a new cloud-based architecture?
Here's an idea of what you will be doing:
You will be leading a UK based team leading the architecture and system design and will also manage the development of specific aspects through one or more outsourced teams. One such team is already in place, based in India.
The role is customer facing and may involve international travel to work with offshore teams and customers.
The successful candidate will report to the CEO and will form part of the company Leadership Team.Responsibilities snap shot:
You will be responsible for
*Working at a senior level with the company Leadership team both on strategic and tactical initiatives
*Managing and delivering the product road map
*Leading and building a scalable in-house team
*Working with management data to support decision making
*working with customers to define integrations and resolve technical issues
*managing the outsourced software team based in India
*contributing to overall technical strategy including the Azure cloud infrastructure
*ensuring process is followed and we remain compliant with regulations
*ensuring all technical infrastructure is managed correctly and is compliant with regulations
*working with the service delivery teams and ensuring that our technical team provides the required levels of support

The team will include a range of development and system design skills and you will be expected to show leadership in finding solutions, communicating approaches and timelines to non-technical team members and defining approaches to new builds. You will be expected to lead and mentor your team members.
Your core skills will include: The must haves:
*Proven experience in team leadership and implementation of strategic projects
*Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to overcome technical challenges
*A strong understanding of Object-oriented development, ideally in C#
*Experience of .Net development frameworks, tools and approaches including: Entity Framework, Active Directory, OWIN, Scaffolding, Swagger, etc.
*Understanding the applicability of different .Net approaches
*Familiarity with core technologies including JSON, XML, XSLT, Linq, JQuery etc
*Good understanding of databases - relational (e.g. SQL Server) and document based (e.g. MongoDB, Cosmos DB)
*Analysis of data structures in preparation for migrations or integrations
*Excellent organization skills, able to manage detail
*Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
*You must have led a team at a senior level to deliver a clearly defined strategy
*Extensive experience of planning and delivering projects using a team with diverse skills
*Proven experience in managing several projects at the same time
*Technical background in software development
The successful candidate will hold a minimum of 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in a computing or mathematical subject. A Masters degree is preferred.
