CAD Engineer (Contract temp to perm)

Pop Scienec is delighetd to team up exclusively with this young, energetic Product Design and Innovation studio that has been set up by their Design and Development platform to focus on commercialising the exciting and disruptive 'Integrated Responsive Furniture Products' that they have been developing over the last few years. We are on the lookout for a CAD Engineer to join this amazing team.

Initially a three month contract it is vital that you have a good understanding of materials and engineering, but also how products are made and the manufacturing process.

We are looking for someone that loves problem-solving and has a passion for design and making something from nothing.
You need to be a self-starter, as this position offers both variety and autonomy - never monotony. No one-day is ever the same.

Getting a product to market is not easy, so we are looking for someone who is a creative problem solver, persistent and determined.
So, if you're entrepreneurial and hungry to play a part in the game-changing furniture market, then we would love to talk to you.

Here's an idea of what you will be doing:

We are looking for a highly motivated CAD Engineer to work closely with their Design Director to finalise the production designs for their responsive furniture product and get the first batch of production prototypes produced to a short time scale

You'll require a good knowledge of volume production design for sheet metal,

Ability to manage relationships with suppliers and manufacturers throughout the UK and Europe.

You will be working directly with the Design Director and their manufacturers, revising the design of the product to increase the production efficiency.

This position would be suited to someone that has experience working with the following.

  • Product based sheet metal projects
  • Running a volume production project
  • Sliding systems
  • Counterbalance systems
  • Previosus gas shock work
  • Run a project to tight deadlines?
  • Worked in a startup environment b
  • Worked with inventor - conversion time
  • Sourcing and managing relationships with suppliers and manufacturers,
  • Interpersonal, communication & organizational skills are essential.

A good understand of product and furniture design is a distinct advantage.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Design Engineer who is interested in being involved in commercialising a highly innovative, disruptive product concept.
