On behalf of our client in Cambridge Pop Science is delighted to offer the position of Product Owner (SaaS) to join their team. This role would suit an innovator who is looking to move to a young company where there are opportunities for everyone at all levels. This is a home working role with some client and team meetings.
Job Purpose:
As the Agile Product Owner, you will support the creation of the
product backlog, defining user stories, and working closely with
the VP of Product and the Development Team to ensure that the
product meets customer needs and business objectives.
To gather and communicate the requirements of stakeholders to
the product team for feature and user story creation and inclusion
into the product backlog.
To ensure roadmap items are decomposed into features and
user stories with required acceptance criteria to enable the user
story and feature to be developed and tested.
To ensure that the software features meet the needs of its
intended users and stakeholders, is of high quality, and complies
with legal, regulatory and industry standards.
To contribute to the ongoing Product Roadmap development
Key Functions
The key functions performed will include, but may not be limited to the following areas:
Working closely with the VP of Product & the development team
to ensure that user stories are clearly defined, estimated, and
implemented in accordance with agile best practices.
Decompose roadmap items into understandable features and
user stories to enable appropriate communication to stakeholders
and customers.
Communicates the product vision and requirements to the
development team and works closely with them to ensure that
they understand the requirements and are developing software
that meets the stakeholder's needs and acceptance criteria.
Work with VP of Product and other key stakeholders (internal and
external) to define and decompose high level requirements into
appropriate Epics, Features and User stories for development.
Support the definition and prioritisation of the product backlog
Review UX/UI design concepts and designs and decompose
these appropriately into Epics, Features and User Stories with
Acceptance Criteria
Work with software developers and software testers to ensure
that the vision and goal of the features and user stories are well
understood.
Provide support to the software developers and software testers
during the development and test phases
Review completed work to ensure that it meets the acceptance
criteria and is of high quality.
Adapting the product backlog as needed to reflect changes in
stakeholder or customer needs or business priorities.
Ensure that the development team is aware of any changes to
the product backlog as required and that they are implemented in
a timely manner.
Review the issues raised during the test phase to determine
impact to requirements, acceptance criteria and/or build.
Create, contribute to and maintain product documents including
but not limited to:
Requirement Development (Epics, Features & User
Stories)
Product & SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle)
Process flows
Release Planning
Release Notes
Known issues
User manuals
Work with stakeholders to manage expectations regarding the
product backlog and release schedule. Communicate any
changes to the backlog or release schedule and ensure that the
VP of Product and Stakeholders are appropriately informed.
Demonstrating the product features to the internal and external
stakeholders
Support the knowledge transfer of the product features to sales
and business operations.
Work with the Head of Development to provide timelines and
effort estimates for deliverable features and user stories.
Work with the VP of Product to understand the product strategy.
Skills and Qualifications
Agile SCRUM / Sprint Processes
Excellent knowledge of Epics, Features and User Story
development.
Deep understanding of agile methodologies
