Are you pasionate about advanced fibreoptics? Our client is a market leader in this area and need a strong technical sales person to grow the business. This pivotal role will be to account manage and develop relationships and solutions for existing and new customers to increase sales. There is a focus on test and measurement sales where the client has strong case studies and want to develop this exciting marker. You will be the key commercial interface, supporting engineering and leading the sales processes and the customer experience for T&M customers. Our client is based in Oxford so you will need to get to their offices to develop technical T&M sales with the team.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Own the customer relationship and be the voice of the customer internally at AFE
- Maintain and grow the customer base and increase sales against targets.
- Lead/support the commercial development of laser, detector and fibre based optoelectronic products from initial requirements through to manufacture.
- Support the delivery of projects on time and to budget, in line with company processes.
- Lead/manage the project, BOM, quotation and proposal processes with engineering and NPI.
- Support customers and advise, develop proposals and deliver products against their requirements. Be able to communicate and understand customer requirements ahead of involving engineering.
- Provide updates, reviews and reports for technical, market and commercial activities.
- Customer facing.Responding to customers queries, writing proposals and quotations.
- Contract development and negotiation.
- This role could support/manage AFE's digital marketing (website etc) and social media.
- Involved in planning and attending sales and marketing events and organising customer visits to grow existing accounts.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Account manage/lead the commercial development of products in line with company procedures.
- Timely customer response and customers satisfaction.
- Pricing and proposals.
- Maintain the opportunities register and sales performance metrics.
- Monitor the use of the company website by customers and assist in its update/improvement.
- Produce internal and external data sheets and specifications.
- Document development projects in line with company systems.
- Support the update of projects across engineering and sales.

Qualifications and Competencies Required
- Bachelor Degree or equivalent in Physics, Optics or related field.
- Experience/technical knowledge of fibreoptic products, components and systems.
- Sales/Account management/commercial experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work as part of a team or autonomously as the job requires.
- High integrity, self-motivated, self-starter who takes initiative and is able to manage their own time and priorities.
- PC Literate (Word, Excel etc.)
- Willingness to learn.
