Our client is growing at pace due to the success of their Industry leading products for clinical trials. Do you have experience as a Software Development Manager?

The Role

This is a remote role. We are looking for a dynamic and driven Software Development Manager whose primary focus is to build and maintain passionate, engaged and effective software development teams. You should take a keen interest in the people that report to you and make sure they are happy, motivated and challenged in what they are doing. Guide the team to reach pragmatic technical solutions and keep yourself close to the code without becoming a blocker. Take ownership when things go wrong and celebrate success collectively. You will work closely with Product Management and Test Management to plan out the delivery of new software release as well as help plan and manage technical tasks associated with operational delivery.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

  • Line management, coaching and mentoring of software developers
  • Develop and improve the technical capability of the development team
  • Represent your team within wider technical discussions across different stakeholder groups
  • Take ownership of the delivery your team commits to
  • Take ownership of non-functional outcomes, including performance, availability, reliability and security
  • Involvement in system architecture and design
  • Adopt best practices in software development: design, testing, version control, documentation, build, deployment and monitoring
  • Champion new tools, technologies and processes to enable us to meet current and future development challenges
  • Be an agile advocate and champion industry standards
  • Work closely with Product Management to provide technical insights to support the sizing and prioritization of the product roadmap

Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years experience leading agile software development teams of 6+ developers
  • Prior to moving into a management role: 5+ years hands-on commercial web development experience using technologies like C#/.net core, React/Angular/Vue
  • Experience and best-practice knowledge around building REST APIs with C#, MSSQL and ideally MongoDB
  • Experience in building single-page applications (SPA) and websites
  • Experienced in managing development teams using agile (scrum) processes
  • Experience of cloud-based environments (ideally Azure)
  • Experience of Azure DevOps or similar Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools
  • Experience of CI/CD process
  • Experience with version control systems such as GIT or VSTS
