- Description
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to drive the development of our client's digital therapeutic products to help patients and doctors improve their treatment and care. The software you write will be used to deliver treatments to patients, to capture data that we can use to develop novel treatments, and ultimately to improve people's lives through more effective medicine.
As an early technical hire for developing treatment technologies, you will be responsible for designing and developing the core components at the heart of our client's technical strategy.
This really is a great role for a strong software engineer who cares about the products you develop. There is scope and support to learn languages and other skills gap if you are smart, conscientious and curious about medical data. Some remote working is fine but you need to have the right to work in the UK and be able to get the London office as required. Ideally, this will be 2-3 days/ week but we can offer more flexibility for strong engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Working closely with other key staff, including product leadership, clinical specialists, and technologists, other members of the Software Engineering team, all the way to dev/ops and tech support staff
- Developing medical device software products
What you'll bring:
- At least five years development experience in a modern programming language (Java, JS, TypeScript)
- Can demonstrate significant experienced across the full stack, with particular focus on mobile applications and supporting backend services.
- Proven experience building React Native mobile applications beneficial
- Experience across the full development lifecycle, and able to apply Agile methods or other development methodologies as appropriate
- Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or similar, MSc level preferred
Core skills:
- Object-Oriented development skills - must be able to demonstrate strong working knowledge of constructing crisp, clear domain models. Must know when (and when not) to apply key OO techniques and design patterns to create high quality, maintainable software.
- Web technologies - knowledge of the latest versions of HTML, CSS, HTTP, and extensive experience working with RESTful APIs
- Knowledge of provisioning and deployment of cloud services such as EC2, RDS, and ELB in Amazon Web Services
- Advocate of Continuous Integration, Unit Testing, and Metrics-driven development. Comfortable collaborating with QA staff to identify appropriate automated techniques to verify functionality and robustness
Preferred skills:
- Experience building medical applications, or applications in domains with similar regulatory constraints
- Advocate of test-first development preferred
- Able to build GraphQL-based APIs
Beneficial skills:
- Knowledge of medical device Quality Management Systems and standards such as ISO 13485 or 62304
