Description

We have a great role for an Agile Coach and Scrum Master to join our client's team to help develop patient centric software to support clinical trials. We are looking for an agile guru to help coach our teams and assure delivery of market leading software. It's a great opportunity to work on developing our client's new products too. 

As a Scrum Master, you will be responsible for creating a fun and stimulating environment for a software development team. In which they can continually improve their ability to regularly deliver great quality, valuable software.

You must have the right to work in the UK to apply for this role. Our client's office is in London but remote working is permitted if you can lead excellent ceremonies

  • Lead an Agile, self-organising software product development team
  • Work with other Scrum Masters to ensure agile principles and practices are adhered to.
  • Supporting the Product Owner and the Development team in delivering high quality software that delights customers.
  • Create an environment for the development team to excel.
  • Assisting the Product Owner in developing and managing the backlog, creating appropriate stories, grooming, and prioritisation.
  • Help the team to understand their process and achieve reliable, predictable delivery.
  • Provide coaching, facilitation and support to the team and the wider organisation.
  • Facilitate the removal of impediments to the team
  • Promote the scrum values (focus, openness, courage, commitment and respect)
  • Encourage problems to be raised openly and facilitate constructive debate.
  • Actively participate in a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation.
  • Contribute to the agile community internally (guilds, brown bags, etc.) and externally (meetups, conferences, etc.).

Essential

  • Strong experience leading Agile teams
  • Recognises when decisions help or hinder the adoption of Agile principles. Able to help those outside of your immediate team adopt Agile principles. Understands how lean principles can benefit Agile approaches.
  • Can compare the differences between different Agile approaches. Helps the team evolve the process that is most suitable for them.
  • Understands the benefits of a wide range of Agile practices and can help the team adopt them as appropriate. Can help teams apply existing practices in a more Agile way, i.e. Collaborative Design over design upfront, testing right from the start.
  • Able to use facilitation techniques in contexts other than they were intended. Able to adapt existing facilitation techniques. Does not dominate, able to facilitate from the side of meetings / workshops.
  • Uses value streams to understand waste, identifies constraints in the system and eliminates waste and constraints.
  • Able to guide the team through continuous improvement, use metrics and data to assess if the target condition has been achieved.
  • Understands multiple approaches to continuous improvement e.g. retrospectives, improvement kata, improvement canvas.
  • Helps the team embody their purpose vision and values, drives the team to create their own ways of working, utilise skill based data to organise the team, expand the teams circle of influence and help team members to grow as individuals
  • Enable team members to hold each other to account, focus on team results over individual results. Ability to understand the emotional make-up of other people. Ability to find common ground and build rapport. Exhibits empathy with others.
  • Guides the team through conflict. Able to ask powerful questions that will move the team forward.
  • Able to mentor the team in a number of areas. Give feedback without interpretation or judgement. Able to mentor outside of team.

Desirable:

  • Professional Scrum Master II (PSM II) or equivalent
  • Experience/working knowledge of several Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, XP, LeSS, Lean Startup, Lean, etc)
  • Experience working in a software development role (dev or test)
  • Experience of Agile development outside e-commerce applications
  • Experience of working with teams from different backgrounds/cultures, or whose first language is not English
  • Experience of working with distributed teams
