Description

We've got a great role for a PhD or MSc graduate, or a more experienced Research expert to join an exciting device company, to help with their new products. They have a focus on musculoskeletal and electrostimulation, so physiotherapy or experience in musculoskeletal research would be great. 

We are looking for a dynamic and talented candidate, ideally with a PhD or MSc to launch their career within our Global medical device company.

As a 'Research Assistant', you will work as part of the innovation team who lead the development of current and future products launched by delivering a suite of high-quality systematic review and running preliminary trials. You will be working with the team working on literature-based research programme evaluating Clinical Evidence of Medical Devices.

Your research will be critical in leading the direction of product innovation, supporting clinical trial design, new device indications and claim substantiation.

As as 'Research Assistant" you will lead on the development of current and future products launched. Running preliminary trials and building evidence to support investment in externally run clinical trials. Driving new claims development through robust concept and protocol design.

You will have the opportunity to work on multiple projects with some of the industry's leading experts. Working closely with our research partners, such as Hertfordshire University to provide inform planning for primary research, capitalising on existing research while assessing evidence gaps. The role will also involve running clinical style studies to support and enhance our long term clinical trials with external collaborators. The role with be responsible for end to end development of the studies.

The role is a permanent position with excellent opportunities for career progression, reporting into the Head of Medical and Scientific Affairs the role will provide expert protocol design of internal studies to deliver high quality data.

Roles and Responsibilities will include:

  • Help build new indications in context of specific product strategy and provide information for value development planning. Leading Research on new studies.
  • Lead project independently to ensure successful project outcome while working closely with the innovation team to help drive competitive advantage.
  • Run preliminary internal testing to support protocol design of clinical trial.
  • Build in house testing capabilities
  • Reviews of clinical evidence;
  • Develop review protocols, conduct searches in medical databases, screening of search results, extract data, perform quality checks, and assess risk of bias for systematic and targeted reviews
  • Conclude and effectively communicate outcomes with External Bodies and team members regarding projects and proposals
  • Implement and deliver high-quality scientific projects to agreed timelines

Qualifications:  

  • The candidate will have a PhD or  MSc degree or advanced degree in physiotherapy, or equivalent medical/health sciences or a related field
  • Ideally, with a background in Musculoskeletal, Physiotherapy or Sport Therapy Sciences with expertise in Electrotherapy/physiology or NHS background with experience in running physiotherapy/rehabilitation or exercise based clinical trials.
  • Understanding of  systematic literature review methods are essential, with experience in designing clinical trial protocols and running clinical trials required
  • Experience in running clinical outcome testing including patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) is required.
  • Experience in vascular testing, including blood flow and oxygenation parameters ideal.
  • Commercial experience in a similar environment is highly desirable
  • Experienced in conducting searches in electronic databases and knowledge of systematic review process
  • Demonstrated skills for reading, writing, and synthesizing scientific research material including evaluation and summarising of research findings, data extraction, and critical appraisal of the literature
  • High level of attention to detail, organisational skills and accuracy; ability to multi-task and prioritise work and be flexible depending on deadlines
  • Enthusiasm, commitment and ability, to produce consistently high-quality work 
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Strong numeric skills with attention to detail and accuracy ensuring scientifically rigorous research.
